CDG terminals at a glance
The CDG terminals are grouped as Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Terminal 2 is the biggest group and has several areas: 2AC, 2BD, 2EF and 2G. Terminal 3 sits at Roissypole, next to the RER B station and the bus stops. Terminal 1 is the round building with its own CDGVAL stop.
Moving between them is easy if you know the rules: CDGVAL is free, the Terminal 2 halls have their own free shuttles, and each move can add security or passport checks. If you have a long wait, you could use it on one of the layover tours from CDG, as long as your entry rules allow you to leave.

CDGVAL, the free train between terminals
One line, five stops, no ticket.
The stops in order
Terminal 1, Parking PR, Terminal 3 and Roissypole, Parking PX, Terminal 2. The ride from one end to the other takes about 8 minutes. That is the ride only, not door to gate.
How often it runs
Trains run about every 4 minutes during the day. Around Parking PR, allow for gaps of up to 15 minutes, and add a buffer if you have a flight to catch.
At night
From 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. a replacement bus runs instead. At the TGV station, CDGVAL is on level 4 and the night bus on level 5.
Not every gate
The line links the main areas. It does not stop at each gate, so a walk inside the terminal usually follows.
Our pick: a transfer from the arrivals hall
The driver of this minibus transfer waits in the CDG arrivals hall, so you know where to meet from the moment you land.

Terminal 2: halls and shuttles
Terminal 2 is not one building. A free shuttle called N1 links the areas 2AC, 2BD, 2EF and the TGV and RER station. A second free shuttle, N2, links 2F and 2G. Do not look for a direct CDGVAL stop at 2G, because there is none.
If your flight leaves from a hall far from the station, add the shuttle ride and the walk to your time. Follow the signs for your hall number, not for the whole of Terminal 2, and check the screens for the gate that applies on your day.
RER stations and how they match the terminals
The RER B has two stops at the airport, and the names matter. Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 is at Roissypole. From there you change to CDGVAL for Terminal 1. Terminal 3 is also at Roissypole, not at the Terminal 1 stop.
Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV is the station of the Terminal 2 group. Trains for Paris on the RER B run from both. The CDG to Paris page has the fares and the other ways into the city.

Which stop serves which terminal
Current names, as shown on the signs in 2026.
| Terminal | Rail or train stop | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal 1 | Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 (RER B) | Change to CDGVAL |
| Terminal 2, areas 2AC, 2BD, 2EF | Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV (RER B, TGV) | Free shuttle N1 to your hall |
| Terminal 2, area 2G | Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV | N2 from 2F, no direct CDGVAL stop |
| Terminal 3 | Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1, at Roissypole | CDGVAL stop Terminal 3 and Roissypole |
For most travelers, the rule is simple: use CDGVAL for Terminals 1 and 3, use the N1 and N2 shuttles inside Terminal 2, and leave a buffer for every change.
Changing planes: checks and time
No minimum time fits every trip.
Depending on your route, you pass security or passport control again. Follow the yellow signs and the airport screens. The airline takes minimum connection times into account when a whole trip is on a single booking. With separate tickets, leaving enough time is your responsibility.
Do not turn the CDGVAL ride time into a connection time. Queues, a shuttle wait and the walk to the gate come on top. New terminal names are announced for March 2027, and tickets for later trips may already show them. Use the current numbers until the signs change.
CDG terminals: frequently asked questions
How do I get between the CDG terminals?
Use CDGVAL, the free automatic train, from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m. Inside Terminal 2, the free shuttles N1 and N2 link the halls. A replacement bus runs from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Is CDGVAL free?
Yes. The line between the terminals and the Parking PR and PX stops is free. The RER B to Paris is a separate rail ticket.
Which RER station is for which terminal?
Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 serves Roissypole and Terminal 3, and you change to CDGVAL for Terminal 1. Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV serves the Terminal 2 group.
How long does it take to change terminals?
The whole CDGVAL ride is about 8 minutes, but that is only the ride. Add security or passport checks, the shuttle wait and the walk. No single figure covers every route.
Will the terminal names change?
New names are announced for March 2027, and some tickets for later trips may already show them. For now, the signs use Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
Is Roissy.org the official terminal guide?
No. This guide is not run by or connected to Groupe ADP, RATP, SNCF or any tour operator, car park or hotel. See the airport page for services.
