Day trips from Paris and layover tours from CDG

Day trips from Paris start in the city. Layover tours start at the airport. They are different products, so check the real starting point in every description. This page covers both: guided Paris visits during a long connection, private driver trips and regional day trips to Disneyland Paris, Parc Astérix and Chantilly.

A layover offer is a service, not a promise that Paris fits into your connection. Some layover offers have a minimum service time of 4 hours and a Paris visit within a window of 6 hours. Read that as a product description, not as a safe minimum for your own flight. Pickup at the airport is not guaranteed for every offer, so look at the meeting point before you book.

Our picks: day trips and layover tours

The park tickets and Chantilly excursion suit a full day out. The layover tour and four-day package include private transfers from CDG; the Disneyland ticket requires your own transport. A horseback ride is another option near Senlis.

Chantilly rates can differ by date, so confirm the price for your day. For most layover travellers a guided Paris visit with a fixed return time is the most practical choice. For a full free day, Disneyland Paris is the simplest trip from the airport, and Chantilly with Senlis is the quieter one.

Layover tours from CDG: what to check first

Four points decide whether a city trip works at all.

Entry rules for your passport

An airport transit visa does not let you enter the Schengen area. Leaving the international zone depends on the entry conditions for your passport and status. If you need a visa, you must hold a matching short-stay Schengen visa.

Bags and checks

Clarify your checked baggage before you leave the airport. Depending on your route, you pass security and passport control again. Follow the yellow signs and the airport screens. No fixed waiting time applies.

CDG terminals and connections →

One ticket or two

Airlines build minimum connection times into through bookings. With separate tickets, leaving enough time is your responsibility. There is no general minimum that makes a city trip safe.

Luggage storage

The storage point is at Terminal 2, in the TGV and RER station on level 3. It is open daily, with hours between about 06:00 or 07:00 and 21:00 or 22:00. From-prices 2026: cabin bags up to 55 cm from €3 per hour or €10 per day, medium bags of 56 to 75 cm from €4 per hour or €15 per day, large bags over 75 cm from €5 per hour or €20 per day.

To get into the city by rail, bus or taxi, see CDG to Paris.

The regional day trips in detail

Each trip has its own page with more detail.

Disneyland Paris

The shuttle costs €24 per adult each way, €11 for children under 12, and nothing for ages 0 to 2. Since 29 March 2026 the second park is called Disney Adventure World. An undated park ticket needs a visit registration, and a transfer booking is not a park ticket. The train fare depends on date, time and class.

Parc Astérix

The shuttle leaves from Roissypole, which you reach via the RER B station Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1. It costs €8 one way and is free under 3. On opening days it runs every 15 to 30 minutes, from one hour before opening to one hour after closing, with a possible break from 13:00 to 15:30. The evening nights called Peur sur le Parc (19:00 to 01:00) are not covered by day tickets.

Parc Astérix from CDG →

Chantilly and Senlis

From Paris Gare du Nord, the TER to Chantilly-Gouvieux takes 25 minutes. Bus 645 links Chantilly and Senlis, also on Sundays but less often. Senlis has an old town with a Gallo-Roman wall, remains of the royal castle, a bishop's palace and a Gothic cathedral. A combined ticket with the horse show costs €32 for adults and €26 for ages 7 to 17.

Day trips and layover tours: frequently asked questions

Can I leave the airport during a layover?

It depends on the entry rules for your passport, your baggage and your tickets. A transit visa does not allow entry to the Schengen area. Check all three before you book a trip.

How long a layover do I need for Paris?

There is no general minimum. Some layover offers have a minimum service time of 4 hours, but that is a product detail. With separate tickets, you carry the risk of a missed connection.

What is the easiest day trip from CDG?

Disneyland Paris. The fastest TGV from the CDG 2 TGV station takes 10 minutes. Add the walk from your terminal and any checks.

Do day trips from Paris start at the airport?

Not always. A day trip from Paris starts in the city, a layover tour starts at the airport. Every offer names its own starting point, so read it before you book.

Can I store my luggage at CDG?

Yes, at Terminal 2 in the TGV and RER station on level 3, usually from about 07:00 to 21:00. Prices start at €3 per hour for a cabin bag. Check that you can reach the storage point from your route.

Is this the official website of the airport?

No. This guide is not run by or connected to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, Groupe ADP, the municipality of Roissy-en-France, RATP, SNCF or any tour operator.
